Here’s the full training demonstration of the Elevated Shoulder Barbell Hip Thrust used in the FMS program to increase glute and lower back strength.
In this online personal training demonstration FMS founder and trainers Kaliesha and Yani explain the importance and use of this fantastic weightlifting exercise.
The Elevated Shoulder Barbell Hip Thrust is the best exercise for intermediate to advanced level people wanting to improve functional strength and aesthetics in the glutes and posterior chain muscles.
The Elevated Shoulder Barbell Hip Thrust is one of the best strength training exercises for the glutes because you’re able to practically isolate the glute max muscles unlike in the squatting and deadlifting variation where the quads and hamstrings are heavily active.
At Unity Gym we absolutely love this movement for developing both great looking and strong glutes.
In many cases, we find people have lazy glutes, where the glute muscles have suffered a decline in size and strength due to environmental influences. People who spend a disproportionate amount of time seated, with little strength training just don’t use the glutes properly anymore.
Often jumping straight into squatting will not fix this problem. You may need more specificity in your glute development program.
